hey bros, just a thought on the big 3 as mentioned. If a reef has been suffering low dkh, ca and mg for a few months, which one should we attempt to increase first in terms of dosing?

Should we increase in this order? dkh, ca and lastly mg?

Just have to keep reefing... cant stop now~!

I think maintain mg 1st, as mg can affect both cal and dkh. When mg is at the desire level, can dose both cal and alk and adjust from there.

Why mg 1st? It the most stable of the 3 and mg can affect the level of cal and dkh.

This has been my problem too. I have read that we cannot increase dkh and ca at the same time. We have to do it seperately.

So for your situation, i am guessing your weekly water change has in a way increased your ca, thus affecting your kh? Perhaps to skip water change for 2 weeks, keep up with kh dosing at a safety level will help?

Of coz skipping wc is risky as nutrients may raise during which. To counter it, we can reduce feeding and step up on dosing bacteria or other measures to keep nutrients low?

Or just monitor your no3 and po4 daily to make sure they don't go out of hand while u fix your mg ca and kh.

Base on your mg ca and kh reading I would suggest u dose kh. Instead of seachem(I never use before so I don't know what is it) try using some sodium bicarbonate. If u need I can pass u some to try and see if it can help u increase your kh
