Mummy gonio has given birth to a baby.

Discovered it last week.

Stumble upon this little fellow when I noticed a pebble with florescent green under actinic blue.

Maybe the mummy could sense that I'm going to give her away as she has grown too big for my 2 feet.

So give me this little cutie for remembrance

hey just curious, how do gonioporas propagate anyways? they don't really literally 'give birth' right?..

The baby juz appear out of nowhere.

I have 2 of these babies from 1 mother colony too.

The mother goniopora will develop "bumps" which you can see when the polyps are closed.

the bumps will grow bigger and roll off as a separate colony

You better start feeding plankton or plankton substitutes... Gonioporas are considered one of the hardest corals to keep for long durations... one year at the most.

Anyway, congrats on your baby!

Will be trying out those frozen plankton posted on another thread unless u guys got surplus live plankton and want to sell some

My algae prob has been with me since day1.

Nitrate is undetectable but has never measure phosphate.

Anyway started to use phosguard 3 weeks back.

Does not seems to improve yet.

I on my 36W PL 10K light for 10 hrs and actinic blue for 12 hrs.

Am I missing something else ?

Can you give us a clue on your feeding patterns, stocking levels, biological filter setup, skimmer capacity, water change habits etc?

DOM and phosphate are contributors to excessive algae growth... once you control the above with the right setup and good husbandry.

Babies waiting to be "born". There's two here, one near the centre of the pic and the other is about a few cm on top. Its been a few months and waiting for the "birth".
