Return pump for chiller and display tank set up

Recommended Posts

Hi Bros,

While awaiting for my new acquisition of tank. I'm thinking on how to set up my return pump display tank and chiller.

I'm planning to use 1 return pump to display tank and also feed my chiller pump.

Based on my research, there are 2 set up here:

1. Return pump - Chiller - Display Tank

2. Return pump - T Joint - Chiller and Display Tank

Which one is better?

Can you guys give me some advise? and for 322 size of tank, will Jebao DC10000 enough to feed my chiller and return pump to display tank?

Thanks in advance Bros!

Display Tank: 3x2x2 feet (12mm Crystal Glass)

Sump Tank: 2.5 feet with 4 compartments

Hi bro i think if you state your chiller horse power or brand will help them answer you better.

Anyway flow rate for chiller the slower the more efficient.

Slower flow rate will have more contact time with the cooling coil :)

Hi bro.. I'm still deciding whether should I take HS60A 1/4hp or HS90A with 1/2hp..

Bro for me I'll say go with 1/4Hp.

Pros.

Size, heat that give out, cheaper and lesser noise.

Cons.

Take longer time to cool your temperature .

Your tank is 324 liters exclude sump

Description

HAILEA HS-66A Chiller

Power : 1/4 HP

Capacity : 300-500L

Flow Rate : 1000-2500L/H

Size : 435x295x470mm

I'll recommend this .

Is 66A not 60

Option 1. 1/4 is more than enough. Pls know yr recommended flow rate for yr chiller and note that yr return pump flowrate will cut with distance and elbow joint.

Tank : 4 X 2 X 2 with low iron front panel and external overflow

Skimmer : BK SM200 with waste collector

Return Pumps : Red Dragon 6m3 and Ehiem 1262

FR : 2 X Deltec 509 & powered by AB2000

Nitrate Filter : Deltec NF 509 and tee off from AB2000

Calcium R'tor : Deltec PF 501 with RM secondary chamber

Kalkwasser R'tor : Deltec KM500

Chiller : Pansonic 1 HP Compressor with 20m titanium Coil

Wave Makers : 4 X Tunze 6055 with 7096 & Vortec MP40w

Controller : GHL Profilux

Lighting : ATI Powermodule 10 or 8 tubes

Water Top-up : Water Top-Up tank powered by Tunze Osmolator

External Monitor : American Pinpoint pH and Temp. Monitor for main tank and GHL Profilux Controller to measure temp, pH, Redox

Ozonizer : Sander C50

UV : Corallife 6x

The Jebao DC10000 is a good choice. You can adjust to run at lower power as necessary since its a DC pump. This is not possible for AC pumps.

And since its quite powerful, you can also T-off to run other reactors (eg. Rowaphos & Bio pellet)

For reference, I'm using a Jebao DC6000 running at 95% power 3x1.5x1.5. Hooked up to 1/4hp Hailea chiller.

Do consider yr return pipe side to ensure it can take volume of water returning to sump.

I split the output of my return pump to the following rough approximate :

- 60% to chiller then directly back to display tank (1/2" diameter return pipe)

- 25% to biopellet reactor of which, part of it goes to rowaphos reactor

- 15% to refugium

Your water example 10000L per hour.

Can your overflow pipe take that much water? Will your tank overflow with water if fish or something stuck in the pipe?

Ooo.. understand.. so is jebao dc 10,000 or jebao dc 6,000 for 322?

I was thinking to just use dc 10,000 but control it to like 60% power..
