2ft Brackish Planted Tank

hi all

long long time never post here, cos been into freshwater tanks and fishes for the past few years.. now hand itchy again with marine... but somehow starting a marine (again) will need some investment $$$.. so itchy and can't wait.. get my spare 2ft tank and start a brackish water tank to play...

tank is 2ft by 1ft by 1ft.. those standard tank selling at LFS

water is brackish with specific gravity about 1.004 to 1.006

put jave fern, java moss and nanas with drift wood inside.. goggle and found these plant can stand brackish water

got about 8 to 10 small small Malabar Dwarf Puffers,

2 green spotted puffer fishes

and about 9 Bumble Gobies

and some ghost shrimps (goggle said they can live brackish as well)

tank have been setup for about 1month old.....

ok.. here the photos to share.. do comment and help me learn.. first time try brackish ..so must have lot of try and errors to do...

2 x 1 x 1 mixed reef tank

What in my mind now (future tanks)

4 x 2.5 x 1.5 low profile coral tank

3 x 2.5 x 1.5 low profile reef tank

Decommissioned Tanks :

2 ft seahorse tank back in the 1990s'

2.5 ft cube mixed reef tank in 2007 to 2008

JBJ 28g Tank . Maxspect G1 110W + 12W DIY LED . Tunze 9002 Skimmer . Vortech MP10w ES . SPS only Tank . Picasso Clown Fish (2009 to 2011)

2 x 1 x 1 puffer-fishes, box-fishes & Frog-fish tank (2015)

Interesting setup.

Display Tank : 36" x 20" x 20" Herbie overflow box design, Sump : 36" x 21" x 17", Frag Tank : 16” x 20” x 16”, custom built by Tank Culture.

Lightings : Ecotech  Radion XR15 Pro x 2 for Main Display Tank, Inled R80 x 1 for Frag Tank.

Chiller : Dalkin 1hp compressor with build-in drop coil.

Skimmer : Skimz Octa SC205i Protein Skimmer.

FR : H2Ocean FMR75 Fluidised Media Reactor with Hailea HX-2500 (Feeder Pump) running Rowaphos.

CR : Skimz Monzter E Series CM122 Calcium Reactor.

BPR: Marine Source Biopellet  Reactor with Continuum Reef Biopellet Fuel. 

Main Return Pump : SICCE Syncra ADV 9.0 & Jebao ACQ-10000 Water Pump.

Wavemaker : Jebao MOW-9 x2 for Main Display Tank & Jebao SLW-20M  Sine Wave Pump for  Frag Tank.

Water Top Up: AutoAqua Smart ATO Lite.

yup.. interesting setup.. never though that can keep planted tank in "marine" ... LOL.. anyway.. it a new challenge for me... see how long I can keep those plants and fish alive...

Whenever I see brackish I think of jolly and salmon. Maybe some loaches. Nice puffer ya haha so cute

Ps I manage to acclimate this India puffer till 1.020 before haha

Need to monitor spotted puffer, they may attack shirmp and other fishes. They like fin nipping.

hi boss.. yup.. will monitor.. infact the spotted puffer already ate some ghost shrimps, cos I some time will see shimp shell on the tank...LOL
