neutronics
FW dips can help relieve parasites off your FA but ich parasites are still present in your display tank. If you intend to do FW dip and then transfer back the fish to the infected display tank, then you should drop that idea because the fish will be infected again, in addition to the shock resulted from the freshwater dip (and netting) just carried out. Use copper-based medicine in well-cycled qurantine tank. Or, a zero cost solution, perform hyposalinity. The reason why hyposalinity is not supported by many major marine brands is because we don't need to buy anything to do it, yet 100% effective if your fish are still feeding during treatment. There is an ich strain reported (refer to links below) to thrive in hypo although in my experience, it is still a very rare and isolated case for now. You can communicate with him personally at saltwaterfish.com as he is the moderator there. He is a helpful person if you have any queries to ask him. Also, you can type his name in Google.com and more articles will appear. Been using hypo for two years for ich treatment and has never been disappointed with the results. But inverts (corals, shrimps - or prawns as some refer them to?? , crabs, etc) cannot stay alive in hypo, do take note.
Asfur
I do FW dip frequently, and my last FW dip is to my Golden Butterflies, i usually dip for about 3-4 minute with no sign of stress to the fish, and after FW dip, i put the fish in the QT for about 1-3 days and medicate it with coppersafe. I think the FW dip will cause just a little stress to the fish, but the parasite or the bacteria are mostly dead because that parasite will absord many FW and will dead soon.
