Use of uv light

Hi , would like to ask for dome advise. I recently have a outbreak of white spot in my tank. After adding a uv light in sump tank, white spots on tangs cleared off quite alot. But my pair of clowns still quite affected. This morning i have shifted them to the sump to see if it will be more effective anot.

May i know how long can i on the uv light for?

i on my UV 24/7... remember to change the bulb every 6 mths tho..

Okok. Some say it will also kill off good bacterias. Is that true??

Anyway i put the 15w uv light in my refrigium tank with my clowns in it. Just afraid it may be overkill n kill the clowns instead of curing them

what UV kills depend on the contact time and spectrum, but by and large it will kill any floating virus and bacteria in the water, and yes, it includes good bacteria too.

how you put your UV in sump? is your UV is those exposed UV i.e. can see visible light de?

So can i say tjat eithbit also killing good bacteria then in long run will affect the bio system??

Your good bacteria resides at your live rock and media in your sump/filter

initial stage of cycling the tank better not run UN first, else will take longer for bb to colonize, after that running UN no problem liao.
