Can u help me Id this grouper. I want to know the exact species, and where can i buy these fishes and roughly how much the price tag?

Its a common catch in our local water.. this grouper cant grow big.. maybe the biggest bout 1ft... almost all my offshore fishing trip sure catch this fish... i call it arumunggam. Hahaha. Dont really noe bout the real name

Wahh this kinda grouper also need to buy?? We usually throw these back into the water if we catch them.

don't waste your money on it.. by the way, you bought for what purpose? eating or keeping?

eating.. I tried to fried it. not tasty. if steam.. too small. Usually I release it back to sea

keeping.. I guess other grouper are nicer than it and it cant grow big.

Looks like a chocolate hind

Cephalopholis boenak - chocolate hind. Not the most colourful of groupers, but doesn't get all that big. Grows to a total length of about 25 cm.
