Reduce heat from water pump

Hi all fellow bros,

Newbie here checking on how to reduce the heat from my aquarium.

Currently there are 3 pumps running on my 2 feet tank, return pump, skimmer pump and reactor pump.

Does these 3 pumps are excessive?

I realised my chiller (HS-52A) kick in every hour to half an hour for 15-20 minutes and I feel like its burning my electricity.

Any suggestion or advise on how to reduce the usage of the chiller?

Thanks !

Cheers bros!

Are you using the original 'internal' Hailea chiller temperature probe? Or is your chiller modified to use an external probe?

Which are the models of the 3 pumps used? What's the wattage of each?

At first guess, I doubt its because of the 3 pumps but rather the flow rate does not match the specs of the chiller causing it to kick on/off quite often. Usually, an external probe will resolve this.

Which is the pump/flow rate used for chiller?

Hi Bro,

Skimmer - intact pump from bubble magus

Reactor - small pump from aquabee

Return pump - Eheim 1250

The flow rate of Eheim 1250 is 1,200L/hour

My chiller used original hailea temperature probe still - the rate of floe is 600 - 2,200L/H

How to install external probe, any lobang?

Thanks !

2 options for external temperature probe.

1) Fox external thermostat / controller. Its mentioned quite often in this forum.

2) Extend the temperature probe to be placed inside your sump instead of your chiller. http://yeo99.blogspot.com/2012/05/diy-hailea-chiller-with-external.html

My 4ft tank chiller also keeps kicking in very often. Electricity bill around $100 extra/mth.

Just added a fan in my sump, chiller kicks in a lot lesser. I guess the trade off will be topping up water more frequently.
