Finding Dead Fish among LR

Hi,

Wonder if this has been asked..but isn';t finding dead carcasses of fishes amongst LR a pain in the Bu**?

I just realised this for my 3 Feet tank which has been undergoing some No2 levels since I increased LS..

WEll my powder Tang died but it died gracefully in the front of my tank for me to collect and not to mention its big enough.

Yesterday my Ago -go died ( 2 inches ) and I could not find its body until I did 2 major shifts of my LR..and some sand bed vacumming. to find that was under a rock probably grabbed by a small crab. Its damn Siong!!!! and luckily I am not working.

I did not want anymore Nh3 or No2 contribution problems so I had to find the body.

I purposely did not stack much LR in my main tank and left some in my refugium so as to be able to find fishes if they die or catch them.

Furthermore, I am moving away next mth..

But for people who stack their tanks say 1/4 or more with LR to have that complete reef look...how are they going to find bodies of small fishes if they die? and doesn;t it pose a DANGER to crashing the LS of the tank?

if u have proper tank clean up crew like nass snails or unlucky enough to have those hitchers crab, they will finish them up 4 u. its nt gd moving ard ur live rock much as it will stress ur fish leading to diesease and then more death. with the amt of livestock u have, ur bio system should be able to cope with these death. besides, u could always do more regular water changes rite?

Sigh! have this problem also.....my 2 footer is densely packed with >12kg of LR & Tonga so I leave my dead fish in it unless my smart boxer carry it out to the front for a feast! then I will snatch it from him/it!

So far I have lost count how many fish have "disappear / MIA" in my tank....just have to change water more frequently....and monitor the parameters.

Recent casualty, my blue tang went MIA and its a size of a 50c coin.....guess it should RIP by now.....Sigh! <_<
