What is the basic setup requirement for a marine plant tank?

Hi,

Would like to find out what is the basic setup requirement for a marine plant tank.

Is it the same as freshwater? light, co2, fertilizer, cooler/chiller/fan but just that in salt water.

In marine, we will call it coral tank. It can be hard coral which we normally call it SPS or soft coral which includes LPS & softies. The first being more challenging and later being easier. If u mix both with fishes, we called it mixed reefing. Generally u need to monitor calcium, magnesium, KH, Salinity level, nutrients level(phosphate, nitrate, nitrite, etc), and others like potassium level etc if u going for more challenging corals. Equipments will be skimmer, wave makers, dosing or calcium reactor, chiller, lighting, return pump with good exchange, supplements dosing, salt mix water, etc. do read up more.

im guessing in general they will need high nutrients level to grow well? Those planted stuff are what most of the bros here keep to remove the nutrients in their water to keep our corals happy.. Lighting wise, they should not be very demanding as well..

I think it will be quite challenging as well for you to keep that marine planted tank if you do not wish for any nuisance algae because they do grow with similar requirements...

think must give up the idea, wanted to keep mangroves but seems very troublesome to maintain.

Mangroves really hard to maintain, was told that have to use fresh water to clean the leave.

That is really a unique idea, more like a swamp (refugium) tank? Think will look cool if maintained properly!
