chinmo, 13Amp wall electrical sockets in residential places are almost always connected in a 'ring', ie, tap from one to another then back to the main circuit breaker (hence called extensions), with some exceptions for certain appliances. So, it is not just THAT socket that counts. If I remember correctly, the total wattage in the 'ring' should not exceed 3000W (anyone can confirm?). This is just one consideration, besides the 13Amp rating per socket. You probably don't want to connect your MH, chiller, home refigerator, TV onto the same ring. These are high current drain appliances. :(

The 2x 150W can be supported by the 13A wall socket in terms of current capacity (asuming no others in the ring), but be careful about the heat generated by the MHs' control gear on the timer if they are in enclosed cabinet. Most timers use plastic gears to on/off the switch, but driven by a small coil/relay and quite heat sensitive.

Just some safety thoughts whenever I think of electricity. :nuke::ph34r::evil:

Happy (and safely) setting up your new SH tank. Cheers.

I am using those normal ones now having a sales in Carrefour at $9.90 and comes with a 3-way switched-plug.

Aquarium Chiller and MH should not exceed the 13Amp limit per electrical point AND that the aggregated current load should not even (normally) come close to a total of 13Amps. As finally the circuit breaker (MCB) is also rated 13Amp in the main switch board.

My point is that you need to know how many extensions are there in the ring that your MH and chiller are connected to that you don't overload the electrical ring, not just THAT particular extension point.

All my electrical equipment, chiller, MHs, pumps....that is used in my tank are all connected onto (finally) 2 extensions socket which is the only extensions in the man switch's circuit breaker. Think each point has about 3Amp each when all operating.

Suggest if in doubt, consult some qualified electrician. Don't risk the lives of yourself, your family and others. Electricity is a silent/invisible killer. :fear:
