Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I am new to this hobby and halfway through before the tank get filled up. Meanwhile I am thinking if I am able to put two medias in one FR since the Flowrate is same at 300L/H?

Like to hear any advise. Thx!

U put two medias in one FR... means u have to change both at once...

Hi Morning Bro andtsg, but changing both a same time, should be fine right?

So long as they can be reacted together, saves space and more efficient also(My thoughts, but I know I could be wrong, as newbie)

Not advisable to put both in 1 reactor. Usually biopellet just need to top up. Rowa need to change. Althou i using ultraphos not rowa but i think it shd be the same theory. By right both will have different flow. If u put both together u cannot control individual flow. I need to change my ultraphos almost very 2-3 week. Imagine if u put both together that means u also need to throw away ur biopellet(as good as throwing away money and ur cultivated bacteria).

DT 7ft x 2.5ft x 2.5ft
Sump 4ft x 2ft x 2ft
2 x Jebao Wp60
2 x 5000 GPH Return Pump
1 x Teco Tr20 Chiller
4 x 150w Led Light Set
Np Biopellets

Ultraphos
Bubble Magus C99

Chaeto Refugium

Agree with the mwtan79 comments 100%.

Bio pellets do not need to be changed. They will just reduce in volume over time & just need to be topped up. It'll be a waste to change them as the surface would be full of beneficial bacteria.

Rowaphos will be depleted after a while & need to be changed out.

On a separate note, some media should not be put together - especially those that are hard (bio pellets) vs soft (carbon).

The hard media will grind down the softer ones. You will just end up with loads of the softer bits in your display tank.

Why not u try all in one bio pallets which suppose to reduce both n and p then.

Thanks all for the advise bro :)

The downside would be changing/top up need to do for both if in a single reactor. Wanted to know if this works so can save some space in my tiny sump hehe.

Wondering if anyone tried the All-In-One Pellet and if it's good?

Try all in one bio pellet . But remember to top up. Once carbon is used up... Bacteria will die off and problem come again ~~~
