Clownfish with V cut on tail

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Currently I have 2 clownfish black and maroon, with a very distinct V cut shape on the tail, the tail and fin doesn't seem jagged like rot. its as if someone used a scissors to cut the V shape out.

Any idea what happened? is it a disease? what should I do?

Tried searching but almost impossible to find.

Thanks

No worry if no serious aggression and feeding well. They will heal itself..

Alternately, you may try artemiss to prevent bacteria infection and improve healing.

Curious, how come your sand and rock so clean? Cheers

Cheers and Happy Reefing

Hmm maybe still new tank about 1 month plus. Do have some algae but minimal and hard to see at the higher parts of rock.

Mine fish only so i didnt get much stuff to add in. Didnt use live rock or sand. Just aquaroche and very very thin layer of c3 sand. Had very bad experience with dsb in previous tank.

I do 10% water change once every 2 weeks, since fish only my salinity kept at 1.017

Other than that i have no idea why. Haha. Or unless cause my eel moving around the sand bed most of the time so swept away the algae

oh i see. thanks for info.

I used back some live and dead rocks to place in my sump, and all the water from previous tank into sump. topped the DT with filtered sea water and let it run for half a day before transporting all my livestock over.

Will it cause any problem?

livestock still the same as before so far just that the 2 V cut shape on clownfish tail.

Would you recommend me to add anything? for now i am just adding super bacteria.
