Hi..I hav a 6 month, 3 ft fowlr tank with 30kg LR, and using Tetra test kit my NO3 reading is always above 75, but with my recently bought Aquarium pharmaceuticals (purple box) reading was btw 0 to 5. Amazing. My tank is stable and all inhabitants doing fine so far...Any comments or advise....

Just a guess, I think these 2 way off readings is due to either 1 of the testkits not working properly. Maybe you would want to check if any 1 of the 2 testkits has expired, i ever used an expired no2 testkit and it gave 0 No2 all the way.

My fowlr also has very high no3 readings(can't remember but definitely around 50-75mg/litre) and the inhabitants are doing ok so far. I'm using the Interpet testkit.

Tetra Nitrate test kit is not accurate.. many have reported giving super high readings. Even after water change.

Why do we use "My 2 cents worth" when 1 cents are not legal tender in Singapore anymore? Shouldn't it be 5 cents worth?

Read the back of the box of your Tetra test kit. You're suppose to divide the result by 4.4 to convert it to mg/l.

is the instuctions on the back of the box?!

It doesn't makes any difference, if it mean/read high in ppm it will be mean high also in mg/l. What you need is to use the reliable test kits, i also have try tetra NO3, but i being told that Sera is better than tetra (ofcourse can't compare with salifert). Don't know for sure is it true or not?.

The instructions come in a leaflet form in the box but for some strange reason the instruction regarding dividing the result by 4.4 is at the back of the box.

now thats one crappy testkit.

Can somebody tell me if I using my Ca test kit correctly..

Salifert

The 5 ml syringe..doesn't take into acct the long part of the syring so it will take up more than 3 Ml of water when used for first part.

The 1 ml syringe uses the long plastic tip..which is doesn't take into acct.

Also..when reading do you read at the black piston or the white plastic part after it.?

I did the test and found my Ca to be 360 ppm only after less than 2 mths with 3 hard corals only?

Is this possible?

Yes, I know ppm=mg/l but I don't think anyone mentioned that the initial result of the Tetra test kit is in ppm. :):):)
