frm my humble knowledge drilling a glass tank is not easy... the drill bit is different... tink has to be diamond drillbit.... then for stability ppl use a bench dril... so dun try unless u are reAdy to get a new tank

how do i drill a hole in the tank?i scared it would crack.....if i drill.and what appliances should i use to drill the bottom of the tank?

how big is your tank?

i sent my 2x1.5x1.5 (6mm) tank for 2 holes drilling in Kwong Ling. (kelantan Rd)

cant remember the price, abt $20 i think + doing of overflow box. (btw: there is NO gurantee if the tank cracks! however he takes care during drilling...)

It takes skill to drill the hole + diamond drill bit. (and someone has to spray water during the drilling.)

Thicker tanks, pricing may defer... i vaguely remembered someone here doing drilling of tanks for others... maybe you like to do a search?

I did my drilling for my 3ft 10mm tank.. the bit that I use is not

drill bit.... is hole-saw.... so .. it wouldnt crack the tank....

but just abit chipoff at the other end....

I did the drilling in the toilet with wood below to support

the tank....

Yes... 2 thing to take care... pour some water inthe tank...

and the hand drill must be speed control... (drill very slow....5 minutes for me to drill thru)

1 suggestion... before drill.. stick a musking tape at the other side..

it may help lesser chip off.

Drill bit is $20 for 28mm.

I've drilled afew holes before using a diamond coated hole saw. I think the diamond tip drill bit will be more likely to crack the tank.

Since my drill dont have speed control, I go full speed. Press for afew seconds and let go. Pour more water and repeat. Allow the diamond to do the work and let it grind the glass without putting too much pressure on it.

My advice is if you have no experience to do it, dont try it. There is also a fair bit of effort involved and on top of that, you are likely to end up paying more $$ to replace your tank. Proceed if you like the adventure and dont possibly having to spend more.

i drilled using non-diamond drill bit, but it definately for glass... anyway, adding water in the process is important, and better make a holder as a mole, the drillbit i get is 70 bucks which i get from friends. once the drilling get on track, full speed no pro...
