Mixed Reef in a humble 2.5ft Cube

Finally!!!

Ok, old thread was 3x1.5x1.5ft mixed reef. And .............after some out of sudden-not-very-serious-become-reality joke came through, my new tank came as well. So, moral of the story, marine reefing .....IS a very addictive hobby. No Thanks to a few indian chiefs buddies here.

So, it all started with this....

For fun drawing than went into actual measurement...than to calling for quotes....

Got a couple of quotes and ended up with someone i have done it before. Carpentry was referred by same tankmaker as well. Old guy whom been in this trade for donkey years and used the old methods of joining wood using groove cutting and not screws. Overall is acceptable but if you are looking for very good worksmanship,you can pass on this guy.

So cabinet was up and i finally realised that a 40yrs old hdb have got a very slanted wall ....everywhere. Check out the side door and you see how slanted my wall is.

And the other photo shows the location of the tank that will be sitting on.

Tank arrived on the 4th which was yesterday. Was delivered by 4 guys and my lift door barely had any extra space left....2 inch bigger and i probably have to pay them thousands to carry up to my level.

Ordered NSW from Iwarna to be filled up today...5th. Didnt expect the water volume to be close to 600litres for both tank and sump. Guy from iwarna was very nice to go up and down to fill up water....

Finally can see something motivating liao ....

Am using my old trusty Deltec AP600..bulky but really works wonder.

Just to update on my equipment and specs:

Specs
-Main tank: 2.5ft all round cube tank (12mm normal glass)
-Sump tank: 32inch x 20inch x 16inch x8mm thick with 4 partitions. (Credits to bro Red Devil for designing over two plate of chicken rice)
-Full height cabinet

Equipments
-AI Hydra and supplement with 2 x T5
-Deltec Ap600 with Eheim 1250 and Aquabee2000 (using back old set til i can get my hands on a 1455)
-Vortech Mp10wes wavemaker
-Jebao wp25 and wp10 wavemaker
-Unknown brand FR with Eheim 1000 compact
-Dymax UV filter
-Tunze osmolator auto top off
-Artica 1/4 hp chiler
-Return pump on Eheim 1262
-Dosing pump on Bubble Magus

Haiz..... Disaster today man...

Happy happy go beng shop buy rocks come back scape than realise how come got water dripping below overflow box......end up downflow pipe never put sillicone enough and ended up leaking...not the biggest leak but its worse than this since its a drop by drop leak...stop the whole system and yanked out the whole piping to redo...

Well...still have had some time to do scape but now whole tank is like i just poured barley water in it...damn cloudy.

its every reefer nightmare. I still check my tank piping daily as part of my preventive maintenance. Especially important if i go away for a few days

Evolutionz : most parts are using pvc glue plus sillicone but inside overflow box where my durso pipe is(the one leaking actually), i chose sillicone only as a precaution..(worst case scenario whereby i need to redo anything)

And as if yesterday's disaster was not enough....i had a second disaster this morning!!

Tenporary fibre tub to house my soft corals and fishes...i can say crashed... Two of my anemones died and made the water super cloudy and smelly... Sian

Emo day.... So no choice, i have to throw my remaining livestock into the main tank which is still cycling....surprisingly, they are doing pretty well...crossing my fingers and toes that they remain this way!!

I reckon is that one of the anemone melted and was hidden under the rock of all anemones and affected the water quality...
