Hey Fellow Reefers!

Been a while since I frequent the forum! Finally, its time to come back! Moving in to my new house! New house also means finally I have space for a bigger tank!! Have been cracking my ID's head with my fish tank's idea and finally decided on this layout!

post-21059-0-40404900-1422207346_thumb.j This is the 3D Drawing :)

Contacted one of the favourite tank maker of sgreefclub to help me design and construct the tank.

Here's some of the design drawings..post-21059-0-86732900-1422207619_thumb.jpost-21059-0-75247600-1422207621_thumb.j

Here's the actual tank!post-21059-0-85629700-1422207839_thumb.jpost-21059-0-02966900-1422207852_thumb.jpost-21059-0-04810600-1422207868_thumb.j

Tank filling process! Tank Maker is really good :) No leaks after a few hours - yeah! Means its time to put in the Salt, Sand and Rocks! Love the Bimini Pink livesand by Caribsea!!

Bro i see that you are having metal hose clips for your return pump. Do note that they may rust after a week. BTW very beatiful and well plan setup. Impressive!

yo bro, very nice tank and setup there bro.

just my 0.2 cents of thought.

dump the bio-balls, they are only effective in trapping debris and nothing else.

BB works better in dark environment, so I suggest you somehow paste some black sticker at the outside of the sump where the bio media are.

Don't lie your LR flat, in time to come, there will be tones of debris and uneaten food trap there.

lot of good potential of a nice tank.

子非鱼,焉知鱼之乐... (you are not the fish so you...)

Then: my 4FT low tech selling off tank... (2006)

Now: (2014)

You're right! Noticed the clips but didn't link to rust! Perhaps I can just replace with cable ties?

Maybe it is better to switch place with your skimmer and refugium. If you are setting up a DSB in your refugium as well, the sand look abit little for it to be effective .

Haha Too late, the refugium compartment won't be big enough to fit the skimmer.. Got an oversized skimmer, needed a bigger compartment. The refugium was actually meant for me to keep a pair of clowns, DSB probably 2nd priority. Was worried if I put too much sand, the fishes have lesser space to swim :(

Hmm, its going be darker when the doors come in, does it help? Nonetheless, the alternative is to put in some more Bio Rings, but those traps debris too :(

Anyway, yup! Won't lie the LR flat, they are in for cycling only, haven't scape yet :)

Nice setup!! May I know who's ur tank maker? Thanks.

Thanks all for the encouragement and comments!!

hi bro!

is that a sponge below your skimmer? i suggest you get some rack or diy eggcrate with pvc pipe as stand. the sponges will trap dirt.

as for biohome etc, better to filter bag them so you can do your yearly maintenance easily.

im using the bioballs as well, but i use them to reduce the pressure of water gashing down. lol

looking forward to this great setup!

Forgot about the filter bags! Guess probably will can do it during the next maintenance. Yup, will get the eggcrates (prob no need pvc, it will raise the skimmer a little too high).. last night din have any so had to make do! Haha you're very observant!

Anyway, its not a sponge! LOL, its the SKIMZ logo, post-21059-0-79872700-1422243053_thumb.j

Just realised, those are stainless steel ones :)

Do monitor for rust.

There are several grades of stainless steel. The common one is grade 304 which may corrode after a short period of time.

The one for marine application is grade 316.

Even SS316 grade ( food grade) would corrode eventually. BTW you are very unlikely to find a ss316 for a metal hose application off the shelf. Use a plastic hose clip or cable tie

My tank was commissioned last month by CRA. Was surprise to find the metal clip and my clips start to corrode after a week and stained my return pipe ( green). Observe closely

The process of scaping is fun. Gluing the rocks, not so!! Two tubes of eproxy still not quite enough!

Wanted two island layout but ended up with a few more rocks than I expected. Built a few more bridges for the fishes to swim. Any comments or suggestion on the current scape? Not sure if the current layout will have many dead spots.

Nice rock formation. What fishes are you intending to keep?

Haven't quite made up my mind, but definitely Tangs, gobies and anthias.

Some stuff that I am quite sure of already.. Just not sure of the sequence yet.. Because these are my all time favorites

1) Sohal Tang (already reserved at AM)

2) Yellow Tang

3) Blue Tang

4) Flame Angel

5) Midas Blenny

6) Hopefully a pair of Mandarin Gobies

7) 2x Sunburst Anthias

8) 3x Blue eye Anthias

9) Algae Blenny

10) a few Sand sifting gobies

11) a fair of True Percula

12) Maybe a pair of Picasso Clown in my refugium

13) Wrasses and other cleaning crews

Also.. wishing for an Archilles Tang too, just not sure if I have the confidence.. But probably if I were to get, will try to make it my first surgeon fish and get it stable first while my water is still 100% disease free..
