I have been wanting to get started on ZEOvit but am not sure if i can just purchase any fluidized reactor and run the ZEOvit stones in it. What is the difference then between a specialised ZEOvit reactor comparatively to any other fluidised reactor, eg: bio-pellet reactor?

Since spinning the stones are important when running zeovit , i thought of using the hamster wheel style jns omega 1 reactor to spin the stones with centrifugal force. Any disadvantages to this ? Any zeovit pros able to advise ?

Might be possible if u set it on timer mode, to spin once or twice a day for under a min. Do note that the stones are quite heavy and need a constant flow through it, so how u going to get constant flow with short burst twice a day to move the stone is going to be tricky

I run mine in IM mini-max reactor. Everyday just take it up shake shake a bit. When go overseas for 8 days never shake also ok.

Hi bro, I'm also considering to get the IM reactor for either rowa or zeovit stones. Just wondering how isit working out for you? Any feedback?

I also thinking of adding a zeovilt system to future tank, and also google that it need to be clean every day... I dont understand what it mean by cleaning it everyday, does it mean take out the whole reactor and wash the rocks inside? pls enlighten me... thanks

Current Tank(s) :

2 x 1 x 1 mixed reef tank

What in my mind now (future tanks)

4 x 2.5 x 1.5 low profile coral tank

3 x 2.5 x 1.5 low profile reef tank

Decommissioned Tanks :

2 ft seahorse tank back in the 1990s'

2.5 ft cube mixed reef tank in 2007 to 2008

JBJ 28g Tank . Maxspect G1 110W + 12W DIY LED . Tunze 9002 Skimmer . Vortech MP10w ES . SPS only Tank . Picasso Clown Fish (2009 to 2011)

2 x 1 x 1 puffer-fishes, box-fishes & Frog-fish tank (2015)

I think it means 'cleaning' the zeolite meaning to shake the stones twice a day. There would be mulm building up around the stones so you need to shake them off and release them into your tank. These mulm contains bacteria that are used as food for the corals.

dingding,

It works great as it allows you to take out and shake with out removing the pump, to me it is a brillant design. cheap also compared to a zeovit reactor. But it depends on the size of your tank. Mine is a 20 gallon so the flow plus the amount of stone is just right to but in a mini-max. If you have a bigger tank you will need either 2 reactor or a mid-size one.
