nwyk153
I recently bought this Curve 5 Skimmer from Ng yesterday. As soon as i went home, i set it up and run the skimmer in my sump. It was skimming normally and produced nice foam for the past 12 hours. After that it starts to overflow and fill up the cup. I switched off the skimmer, took the cup out and empty it. By the time i put it back and turn the skimmer back on, i can see that the water level inside the skimmer is not constant. It goes up and down. I tried to play around with the adjust tube to no avail. So i took everything apart and clean it, including the pump. After assembling it back together, the skimmer still performs abnormally. The water will not stay on the level i adjusted. It will go up and down the entire hour. IMG_3240.mov Is this normal for a new skimmer? If not, should i return it back? nwyk153
it was sitting inside a sump with a 9" water level. If i dial it towards minimum, it will start to overflow and then the water inside the skimmer dropped. And then it went up again>overflow a bit> went back down again>repeat. Tried everything from cleaning the air tube to the water pump and the skimmer's body. I also make sure the output of the pump is not aim directly towards the plate holes. At lost here. Not sure if the ng couple accept 1-on-1 exchange. Btw, anybody has the contact no. for Ng shop? shaohao85
I read the net .. the skimmer requires 9.5" to 11" of water level . it takes a while to prime it, starting overflow abit is ok .. just leave it .. it will run in.
nwyk153
yea, i've tried raising my water level up to 11" earlier. The water is still not stopping at the level i adjusted. A very odd behaviour for a skimmer. My best guess the pump is faulty. Will give it 24hr to run. If its still behaving oddly, will try to bring back to the shop. What works for me was i removed the red cap at the bottom of the skimmer to release the water pressure. Once u remove the cap. Make sure u increase the water level to just below its neck. Give it a couple of weeks to break in and everything should be fine.
