Potter angel

Recommended Posts

I read somewhere that survival rate of potter angel is only 5%.

For those who have experience on this fish, how long you keep it alive?

Anyone who bought from recent TFC shipment (2 weeks ago) who bought and keep it alive up to now give some advise how to make it feed?

I hv one for almost 2 weeks now. I did not see it eat but still fat.

Did your angel nip at anything ? How about swimming pattern. You post at reef fish only so I assume they will try to nip at your coral for food? :)

It is not impossible. You need to get juvenile, healthy specimen and your tank must be established with no stress to the potter. Know ppl who are successful on potter angel for at least 3 times.

Nitrate Filter : Deltec NF 509 and tee off from AB2000

Calcium R'tor : Deltec PF 501 with RM secondary chamber

Kalkwasser R'tor : Deltec KM500

Chiller : Pansonic 1 HP Compressor with 20m titanium Coil

Wave Makers : 4 X Tunze 6055 with 7096 & Vortec MP40w

Controller : GHL Profilux

Water Top-up : Water Top-Up tank powered by Tunze Osmolator

External Monitor : American Pinpoint pH and Temp. Monitor for main tank and GHL Profilux Controller to measure temp, pH, Redox

I had mine for 9 months in a fowlr setup. My advise is not to rush your purchase until you find one that starts feeding at the lfs. Then chances are higher. Also, it is quite aggressive. I can't add any other smaller dwarf angels into my tank as this bigger will bully the hell out of the newbies...

Thanks for the reply. I thought this is a shy fish and not aggressive as i read several posts online that flame normally harrass this fish. Anyway, hope mine will survive although i hv not seen it eating yet since 2 weeks ago or maybe it is eating when the light is off.

Almost 2 months, my potter still not eating (as observed) even frozen mysys or brine. It is bery timid! But now very active after introducing a smaller flame. Keep chasing the flame but it is too slow for the flame. Any advise to encourage it to eat pellet or frozen food
