Nice setup..like the sump design by AA..like ur tank position too..do plan the current flow in ur tank then position ur return pipe..factor in what wavemaker to use & position too..coz if need to change the return pipe position later will b difficult as the joints r glued..hope to see update & pics coming :)

Thanks for the advise bro. Will keep that in mind...

What equipment are you planning for your new tank? Looking good ..

Hi Bro Harlequin, I will most probably be going for a cost effective set up in the long run. But main equipments aren't necessarily high end stuff, maybe mid range products. Will be updating equipment list soon, currently caught up with rock scape.

Hi reefers, Its challenging doing rockscape for 3 side partition view. Currently, when i scape it nicely on one side, it looks not so good on the other. Then I'll have to re-do... its really challenging... but i guess that's part and parcel of the building process...

Any bright ideas...?? For eg, 3 islands, or 2 caves 1 island, or one huge arch linking 2 islands, etc etc... I ended up re-do and re-do... :pinch:

Any comments appreciated... especially from those who have a partition tank... arigato in advance.

Hi bro..ur scape depend on what u keeping..for more SPS u need to scape lower n with more vertical surface to place frags..for the rest is all run wild..my take is to use bigger size rocks so that lesser rocks will b used n the tank will look more natural..u can go to AM n look with their DTs, both are partition tanks..my FOWLR tank is 4 side view n I have rescape many times..human tend to like new look, things see long liao will get bored..so go simple :)

I second Shadow Walker.

Minimalism plenty of swimming place is nicer.

Hi both, I saw some minimalist rock tanks and realised that they were really very nice. What makes it nice are all the SPS... It allows more space for the SPS to branch out and the look is amazing.

For myself, i intend to have a mix reef. Which can be challenging... Thus, i think i need to find a moderate balance. I definitely wont be going for the 'full-of-rocks-chunky-bulky' look...

Thanks for chipping in your thoughts, much appreciated.

Chiller Setup

Of all the installation works, the chiller set up process was the one that i am most concern with actually. My main objective was for everything to be hidden inside the false ceiling and side cabinet to give the whole set up a neater look without ugly trunkings running around my home. And I intend to place the air con condenser at the kitchen ledge alongside other condensers.

As such, I would need to open up my false ceiling, and than check whether can the wall behind the 'side-full-height' cabinet be drilled through. I was mainly concern that after opening up the false ceiling, the wall cannot be drilled through because its part of the load bearing pillar structure of the building. And if that is the case, we'll have a big problem finding a proper route for the pipings. :erm:

The day finally came...

Daikin Compressor

After opening the false ceiling, behind this wall is the full height side cabinet which the trunking will drop downwards.

The moment I saw the red coloured bricks, I know 'HO SEI LIAO'... confirm can drill through. Because load bearing pillar structures are not built with simple red bricks. :yahoo: And they indeed blasted a round hole through it and into the cabinet on the other side. After that, the false ceiling openings were patched back with plastering and repainted.

The trunking goes all the way down the cabinet and into my sump area.

The compressor will be placed on my apartment’s air con ledge in the kitchen and the piping will run inside my false ceiling all the way into the side cabinet.

After doing a test run on the chiller coil, it works fine. The coil was ice cold when i felt it during the testing.

After the air con guys finished installing the chiller coil. Tank maker proceeded to fix up the side cabinet doors. It was previously not fixed up to allow more room for the air con guys to work etc...

I have also DIY my ATS using par38 3 blue and 2 white on a plastic mesh. My flow comes within the slump. Looking forward to see your setup.

Why didnt use red colour? I heard its good for ATS and saw videos of awesome harvest from red with blue led.

Hi reefers, hope everyone's week was good. Anyway, whilst messing with my rockscaping plan, i manage to do up my ATS since my lights have arrived. Its gonna be a down-flow ATS

Step 1: Draw a straight line along PVC pipe

post-12962-0-26197200-1422028606_thumb.j

Step 2: Cut a slit (+/- 3mm) along the line with a rotary tool and insert screen (mesh)

post-12962-0-41094900-1422028644_thumb.j

Step 3: Ensure screen fits (loosely and never snugly).

post-12962-0-20908100-1422028683_thumb.j

Step 4: Glue on pipe connector

post-12962-0-58043500-1422028722_thumb.j

Step 5: Glue on end cap of PVC pipe

post-12962-0-76668800-1422028742_thumb.j

Lastly, remember to rough up the screen. I simply used a saw to scrape over it in different angles and directions until it is rough. The picture beneath is prior to this process and still not roughed up yet.
