WHAT IS I~TOP

I~TOP is a acrylic reservoir for top up water. It is made to fit the TUBBY nicely. As a self confessed DIY wannabe (but never get down to doing anything useful), I found the I~Top very neat. It has the following benefit:

1) Looks good enough to put outside the tank cabinet without looking makeshift.

2) Simple enough to handover the task of filling up to the wife. Good for people who going reservist or overseas.

3) Provides the most appropriate place to place the TUBBY (isolated from, but close enough to the reservoir)

CONSTRUCTION

The unit is made of dark colour acrylic. The center has a clear strip of acrylic, which can be used to check the level of water. The workmanship is very good and looks very professional. Each acylic joint has a additional silicone as a double protection, which will likely make the I~Top hardy and lasting.

WATER LEVEL

In order to make the water level look more distinct, I put a piece of styrofoam. This will float an the water surface, hence indicating the level. (Must make it very easy for the wife to see...if she never top up, my TUBBY pump will run dry) It works prettty well.

I bought the 30L version and based my current 3ft evaporation rate, it needs to be topped up every 7-9 days. (Again, enough margin of error for the wife, so should have no excuse. Hahaha....)

WHERE TO GET

You can get the I~top from Ian (I~Aqua, see SRC sponsors).

COST

@ $60 for a 20L version, looking at the detailing and the workmanship, I do not think the profit margin is high. Nonetheless, for the very budget conscious, it may be argued that it is too much for what can be functionally met by a pail.

For the above mentioned factors, I am pretty happy and satisfied with it. My original plan was to put a reservoir in the cabinet, but real estate in the cabinet is a premium, and the I~Top looks good enough to place outside so that my cabinet is free for other purposes.

Further, I support made in Singapore, DIY sponsors. Thanks, Ian. :thanks:
