dreamscape
The ideal temperature for keeping seahorse is 22 to 25 deg. This will however depend on species. Kuda can take higher temperature, probably up to 26 deg. Reidi will do better at 22 to 25 deg. The less common species will need even lower temperature. Reason for keeping the temperature at the ideal 22 - 25 deg is because seahorse is very prone to bacteria infection. Such bacteria proliferate faster at higher temperature which means seahorse kept at higher temperature will easily succumb to bacteria infection. I have 2 Reidi and 1 Kuda in my cube tank and I keep its temperate at 24 - 25 deg.
dreamscape
Pic of my seahorse tank. I have setup a planted tank, designed just for the seahorses. Beside the seahorse, I have a twin spotted goby and ruby red scooter in the same tank. Both fishes are living in harmony with the seahorses. dreamscape
seahorses are indeed very adorable and will not swim away even when my hand is in the water. I can even feed them from my hand. Their diet is primarily enriched brine shrimp. I mean live brine shrimp enriched with selcon and phytofeast. I have a 2 feet tank setup for the brine shrimp

dreamscape
No need to use chiller for brine shrimp tank. But need to use sponge type of filter instead of those filter with pump. Also can let the algae grow so that brine shrimp will feed on it

SRC Member Sharan Guna Posted February 14, 2015 Author SRC Member Share Posted February 14, 2015 From what i read, this seems to be a bacterial infection. Quickly send the seahorse to a quarantine tank and treat with broad-spectrum antibiotics. You can find this at C328. Then, try to reduce the tank temp in quarantine to around 22-23 degrees. This will slow down the bacteria from growing and spreading. Follow the dosage on the antibiotics extremely closely for effective treatment. From the looks of it, you seahorse doesnt have any time to wait

Hi Edmund, Sorry about your beautiful seahorse. Don't be too sad because i'm sure you did everything you could. Anyway, reducing the temperature will help a great deal with fighting off bacteria.
