Hai guys.I have upgraded to a 5 ft :D

And I am here to document my successes and failures.

Today my tank was installed but not fully complete. It turned out there wasn't enough water so the system could not be started..

This was the aquascape.I made way for some holes for my corals.Let me know what you think about it,although I might be doing a rescape.

As for the fish,I will be adding them after 10 days just to be sure [They used cured rocks and old water]

Now for pics of my messy sump :P

Is there something wrong?

So yea.

Thats it for now.

Peace <3

I think the chiller will have a problem.

Your tallest left scape , can't put much sps corals imo. If u plan to go sps dominated , try to scape in a way where u can put lots of sps hahaha

Nice cabinet!

Ya man .. bro .. I think your chiller will need more ventilation than what it already has currently.

Starting to feel jealous about your new tank =X

Hmm .. Ever though of connecting both islands together? This will also provide a lot more hiding holes for your fishes. :)

nice upgrade u have there ... will ur chiller heat up since there is no space clearance for the ventilation?

micro bubbles from the skimmer?

Nice cabinet!

Thanks guys for the replies.

There is a ventilation gap at the side,so no worries :)

Thanks!

Ya man... thats a pretty big tank to be going without a skimmer lei. Even if you change 20% water weekly also cannot keep the water at optimal parameters.

On a another note, the hole on the side is really small and its not aligned to the ventilation of the JBJ chiller. This will cause alot of heat built up in that compartment causing the chiller to become inefficient in chilling the tank. I would suggest getting a few small PC fans to suck out air from that small hole.

Overall it still is a very nice looking tank so dun be disheartened by the comments. Just want u to be moving on the right foot instead of waiting for something bad to happen than panic. Cheers!

Guys im perfectly fine with the comments.

Tank builder is Atlantis.

They say they did something to the sump and the back of the tank..

Abit blur when they say no need chiller..

I didnt have any rocks to make the right island bigger..

Thanks turtle for the suggestion :)

Hmm .. I think u gotta ask them exactly what they did to the sump and the back of the tank. Better to know what goes into your tank than to leave it to fate.

Actually to have a marine system running in perfect balance without any mechanical filtration is not impossible. But it takes a lot of patience to cultivate the right amount of bacteria to break down each of those chemicals and then lots of self-restrain when adding livestock.

wad material is ur sump tank ? It seems a bit high to put any Equipments in .

Do upgrade ur lights , I am sure sure Atlantis didn't give u something suitable for corals

Atlantis knoww nothing about aquarium keeping. Only know how cut glass and silicone only. They are just good for tank and sump pricing.

chiller air intake gap , seems to have a gap of only 1cm. your chiller confirm going to have to run harder .

Any reactors ???

Curious to know how are you going to nutrient exportt ?

This tank will be softies/lps only??

Bro , the chiller need ventilation from back, not side . Also, did Atlantis give you any valve for the pipings?

Snoopy you are going to have a lot of problems with that chiller design. Chillers need AT LEAST 1 feet behind them to ventilate properly. Youre just chilling and heating your tank together at the same time. And you definitely need a skimmer, especially if you intend to keep sps.

Anyways your tanks looking good

by atlantis, do you mean Atlantic Glass Industry?

As much as you do not want to hear, no matter what kind of ventillation you got there, the chiller will not last long. The chiller needs to be outside in open space. Unless u spend money build a ventillation fan that draws big amount of air out of your cabinet.

As for without skimmer, Its possible if you are going for mainly LPS/zoas. But skimmerless and no water change will not work. Those are crap advices. I thought you've been reefing for some time? you should know all thsese..

I think he meant Atlantis. Hmm.. Well I think enough have been said about them. So I shall not add on more.

Snoopy .. The picture of the compartment Under ur tank is the only compartment available or are there other compartments?

My suggestion would be for u to take the chiller out of that space and use that extra space for a bigger sump tank. This will solve Ur skimmer placement issue. Budget may be tight but since cycling will take at least the next 1-2months. Use that time to save money for a good skimmer. Can camp at pasar malam for one too. Skimmer is not needed during cycling so no worries about that.

Place Ur chiller outside of the cabinet and pipe it through the ventilation holes in the cabinet. I'm sure the thing covering the slot in the wood can be removed. This will give it a lot more ventilation and honestly, way better cooling power.
