Yesterday evening I saw my lion breathing heavily. Tested the water and found nitrite to be at 0.3!

It died this morning :( . Tested the water parameters again and nitrite was back to 0. Is there any reason for that short nitrite spike?

Can't be dead LS coz my tank is used to having dead mollies.

Whatelse can affect the spike?

Why do we use "My 2 cents worth" when 1 cents are not legal tender in Singapore anymore? Shouldn't it be 5 cents worth?

"Its easier to blame the 'mantis' or crabs in the tank for missing & dead livestocks.."

Hmmm... what kind of biological system are you using? Something must have died and caused the ammonia/nitrite spike and your system wasn't able to cope with it.

Lionfish produce a lot of wastes and its entirely possible for nutrients to build up to dangerous levels in a new tank.

I'm using a eheim canister filter..
