diatom bloom

Hi, recently my tank have been plagued by diatom bloom. tried rowaphos, weekly water change : doesnt even dent the diatom production. lights were on for 9hrs daily, now switching to 7 hrs. age of tank is 4 months old. any1 can reccomend any LS that helps to clear such stuff? :)

My tank has been up since last june. It still has diatom bloom...came back in the past 1-2 months. Oh well...learn to live with diatoms. They're not as bad as you think. They quite beneficial really. Only that they are an eyesore.

Always something more important than fish.

hhhmmm....beneficial? u mean like it help to clear nitrate and wat else huh?? pls advise...

4 months old is still a new tank. Diatom is expected. Don't worry about it. Just let it be. It will disappear in few weeks time. It is almost unvoidable for new tank. Like FuEl said, get used to it in the beginning. Sometimes it is better to wait then intervene. Its part of the cycle.

i guess, diatoms r irriating when they make ur DSB look really brown n dirty... :)

Siphon ur sandbed during water change will help rid some of the diatom.

Employ more snails...........

Feed less.......

Use RO water.......
