Tank volume

Pardon for a super noob question...

Do u guys factor in ur sump tank water volume as tank volume or jus calculate the water in DT?

I in the midst of reading up which skimmer and return pump to go for.. Hope u guys can enlighten me before I purchase a wrong one. Thanks!!!

What is your sump design like?

In most sumps, the 'skimmer section' would have a glass panel that separates it from the other section. This would typically be the sump/skimmer water level.

Water flow down to 4" length mechanical filter compartment then to 8" length skimmer compartment then to 5" length return pump compartment. Design no so sure. But sump tank height is 16".
