SRC Member titustitus Posted November 17, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted November 17, 2014 Hi guys, Just wondering what kind of filtration are you guys using for your fowlr tanks. Currently in my sump I have a whole load of live rocks in one compartment with par38s shining on them for algae growth. A phosban reactor running carbon. A skimmer and a zeovit reactor running zeolites. The zeovit reactor was more for my sps last time but now since it is a fowlr tank, I am considering removing the zeovit reactor. Was wondering if that would cause any detrimental effects. Now the DT has no algae growth despite my heavy feeding and I'm quite happy with it. Afraid that if I remove my reactor then algae will bloom.
tofubox
Bro tities....i would stick to the zeovit reactor. If ur system has no algae despite ur heavy feeding, means its pretty much stabilized in terms of biological aspect. I wouldn't change around too much, unless u would rather have a system that is fully automated (no need to shake shake everyday). Also, the fact u have plenty of live rocks in dt and sump probably helps alot in the biological breakdown. Usually a refugium with macro algae works best with the high nutrient from fish poo to fuel growth, but you will need the space in sump to really grow those macroalgae. Alternatively, i see many Fowlr tanks using biopellets. 1 Quote I Love Stagsss
