SRC Member christan1959 Posted November 9, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted November 9, 2014 Hi folks, am using API test kit and found that my tank's kH and Ca levels are a bit low (7 and 390). Even right after dosing Aquapharm Seabalance A and B, levels remain unchanged. Anyone can help?

SRC Member christan1959 Posted November 9, 2014 Author SRC Member Share Posted November 9, 2014 I've not tested for Mg level. I used the calculator and it suggests quite a high volume of additive.
xiggie
That's the amount u need I guess, those additives are to maintain lvl not to raise . Try sodium bicarbonate for kh and calcium hydroxide to raise calcium then dose those additives to maintain. Quote Stairway to Heaven
SRC Member christan1959 Posted November 9, 2014 Author SRC Member Share Posted November 9, 2014 Let me test a new batch of freshly mixed water. If still low, then maybe something wrong with test kits.
sherman
Your kh need to pump up to 8.3. CA is still acceptable. MG how? SRC Member christan1959 Posted November 10, 2014 Author SRC Member Share Posted November 10, 2014 Oh ya, Hanna. Good?
tofubox
Hanna is accurate and gives u a digital readout instead of having to compare with colour charts. There is however a problem i notice with hanna checkers. It depends alot on ambient lighting if u dont cover the caps with ur hands during testing. Anyone faced the same issue?. Tried it on both po4 checker and kh checker. Inconsistent reading if testing in a well lit room and a dim lighted room. sherman
For KH, CA and MG salifert should be good enough Quote 6.5 * 2 * 2 + 3.75 * 1.5 *1.5,(Decomn on 14/9/08) 4*2*2 + 2.5*1.25*1.25 (Decomn on 1/8/09) 5*2*2 (Fully LED light system, 140 3 watt SSC leds with 60 degree lens)(Decomm) 2.5*2*2(Fully LED Light System,96 3 watt SSC leds with 60 degree lens)(Decomm) 5*2.5*2(LED only) Eheim return 1 * pump 1 HP Daikin compressor with cooling coil 2 Jebao OW40, 1 ecotech MP40, 1X6085 Tunze wm, 1 CURVE 7 Skimmer 1 DIY 80 led control by Bluefish mini 1 radion XR30W G2, 2 Radion XR15G3 Sump area lite by 5 ft T5 , 6 * SSC 3 watt red LED for refugium 1 Full spectrum E27 led light 1 CR control by bubble count Start No Water Change since 1st Dec 2016 Add new 2.5x2x 1.5 ft [/quote]

SRC Member christan1959 Posted November 15, 2014 Author SRC Member Share Posted November 15, 2014 Testes fresh batch of newly mixed water: kH 8; Ca 420. Guess my tank is somehow consuming lots of Ca.
