dirt accumulating in sump

any of you face this problem? my display tank is clean, but despite all the filter wool and skimming, a layer of light brown slime is present on parts of my sump, in particular under my skimmer.

when I switch off the return pump and switch it on again, this gunk will sometimes pour into my dt which is horrible to say the least.

any way to solve this?

i usually siphon them out during WC.

do you have a fuge in your sump?

Brown slime or brown detritus? Two different things. But either way, just siphon it off and use a filter sock or wool at ur overflow to prevent the brown stuff from reentering the sump after shooting back up into the display.

You may consider Algae Vac for Algae/Detritus bottom cleaning...
