But the guys in this forum say no3 and no4 at zero most corals will be happy.

All coral need some level of NO3 or PO4 to grow. Since most of us are using hobbyist level test kit, although the reading is undetectable, there is bound to be some level of NO3 PO4 present in the tank.

Even for SPS tank, the recommended level of PO4 is 0.03 and NO3 is 5-10ppm. Having too clean a water and you risk your coral die out of the blue after months.

Yes LFS also say test kits cannot be totally trusted.....but they still need to sell them lol

Hi lenenkie i read the thread and thot u r doing a test on dsb but u also add other nitrate export methods so u end up not knowing whether the dsb works or not. U have thot of gettinh nitrate up agsin and redo the testing?

Although I measure zero, i still have some algae growing which requires me to clean my glass about 1-2 times per week. Hence its probably undetectable by the test kits rather than being truly zero. Agreed that its not about zero nutrients, but rather having low nutrients, enough sustain growth of your corals and minimise nuisance algae growth
