the lease is also shorter. Meaning u spend money to build up the infrastructure and need to recoup all these within 10yrs. From news, seems like garment wan to build new Tengah town. So military give up land for housing, so military take land from farming.

Read from news, 10 years, but 2 years and $$$$$ to build facilities, 3yrs for certain crops/livestocks to mature, and then 5 years to recoup. Sure price hike before their lease ends. Price increase also means lesser customer and eventually ppl will leave the industry cuz cannot sustain themselves.

Kill the wet markets and sell to private companies again indirectly increase the cost of living. Now ask the farmers to increase productivity and only then will consider their land bid. In the first place those land are around sensitive areas where our military bases are. So u can't build bloody high rise hotels and other commercial building. So those Land can only be used for agricultural purposes. So there's no demand for these land for other purposes. But now this scenario will be creating an effect similar to rental hike. Now to increase bloody productivity, u need to invest in equipments to do tat. But to recoup all these investments within a short period of time and the uncertainty of lease, which investors would do tat? So either u close shop or just pass the cost to the consumers. Ya I know, there's what productivity funds to tap into. Then came the house renov cement must use those environmental friendly cement which cost much more.... Dun know wat is there to prove.... Tat we are an environmental conscious country? Then stop building so many shopping centres consuming electricity and contribute to green house effect. K&N......

I totally disagree with these things. It is just too capitalistic approach. There are basic things that should not be capitalized especially those for basic necessities.

Just my two cents worth. First, peg the new hdb price to the cost and not to market value. Secondly impose capital gain tax. Lastly dont lelong PR and citizenship like dirt.

We cannot deny that to run the state and longterm survival, all govs definitely need money. The money allows the gov to do many things like strengthen defense, build infra, strategic initiatives, etc. There are many ways to source for the money including what the gov tries to earn from land use. The "problem" is our gov is very good at maximising income for the state.

To be fair, gahmen also does good jobs although also with area that we disagree. We need them to have heart and not too focus on profit/lost making. With the last election result at least there is change and the gahmen now is more social. Just hope that the trend continues.

As for question on how to fund the social, gahmen should not just earn money from inside of the country but also from the world e.g. via state enterprises. And that can be used to take care better of the citizens. We also need Singaporean entrepreneurs that are social who make success but still care for the people of his country.

I know that Philips takes care of the Dutch very well in Holland. They have become world wide company and they make proud of the Dutch. I know because I saw how my friends there who worked for Philips and they were so proud of it as Philips gave them employment, work life balance, sponsorship to study master/PhD. Basically Philips in a way allocate some of its earning to develop/take care of their people.

The hordes of ministers n mps, with their remuneration package n pension, how much goes to these "operation" cost to govern a tiny island and still make mistakes which so many commoner non scholars on the streets foresee tat. Question I have in mind is some of our ministers are also sitting in on temasek n gic. Are they drawing another salary? They keep emphasising the citizens to contribute n volunteer, so whu cant they volunteer to work for free in certain designations & doing their bit to help the system? The list can go on for remaining competitive. But they always subject the pple to all the competitive except they themselves cannot be placed in such situations.
