Temperature fluctuations during cycling

My tank have been up for 3 weeks but only managed to get hold of market prawns last Thursday to introduce the Ammonia spike.

Have removed the prawns on Sunday since my ammonia has shot up to around 5ppm (took my Seneye free ammonia value of 0.245 and multiplied by 20).

Currently ammonia still hanging around between 2ppm-5ppm. Nitrite is around 0.25 and Nitrate around 0.5.

Ever since Thursday, my temperature have been shooting up really high (30-31 degrees) despite me not changing any setting on my chiller. For the 2 weeks before last Thursday, water temperature never exceeded 28 degrees.

Anyone experience this too?

I dont think is the chemical reaction.... when was the last time you service your chiller...

Eh .. Using Iceprobe chiller without thermostat. Was thinking cos if I didn't change the chiller timer. There shouldn't be too much of a fluctuation in temperature.

Think I should start looking out for a proper chiller already.
