Just bought a Salifert kH test kit and I dun understand the last step.. I'm supposed to drip till the water changes colour and read the left over reading on the syringe correct? What if I drip all in and the colour still dun change?

also since there is air in between, dripping to a certain end point will not have readings. So how after that?

Why do we use "My 2 cents worth" when 1 cents are not legal tender in Singapore anymore? Shouldn't it be 5 cents worth?

Very simple. The air below the piston is meant to be there. Just read where the piston touches. If the color still does not change, simply draw another syringe and titrate the solution until it changes color. Then get the value read by the piston and add it to the maximum reading of the previous attempt.

What test kit are you using? Calcium? Anyway..just read the 0.00 to the value given on the instruction sheet. In case of Ca I think when u empty the whole syringe 0 = 500ppm of calcium.

So you take another syringe n titrate..let's say u get a value corresponding to 100ppm..so your calcium level would be 500+100=600ppm.

Sometimes read instructions carefully...it's 4ml of water, 2 drops of the green liquid. It should not exceed one syringe for normal seawater. Unless you are measuring the effluent of a Ca reactor.

nope.. only kalkwasser and marine buffer.. and I doubt kalwasser can raise kH really high...

huh.. I'm not a science person.. last time I heard that is like more than 10 years ago.. can explain what you just said in lay man terms.. ;)
