are you planning on a reef tank? don't see anyone using that light set. doesn't seem to be full spectrum to me. you will need much better lights than that to successfully keep corals. shop around since you have time, get some more quotations. there're many forum sponsors here and you can visit them at their shops so that they can advise you better and provide you with the costing.

I think you buy the equipment yourself and scape you tank urself and let them do the monthly cleaning or can also clean the tank your self is much much cheaper.

I think to set up this size tank will cost you about $4k to $5k only

I see. Not very nice to put up the company name.

I know it is cheaper to set up myself. But cos i want it to be part of my reno project. So best if everything can do together during renovation.

It wont be jus a tank own its own. I will likely build it between my kitchen and dining area.

Hmmm

Any suggestion on company who is good and experience in reno and marine setup?

Roy

from the equipment list, it seems like the quotations you are getting are not from shops specializing in marine setups. would advise you to go to shops specialising in marine setups. even if you don't engage them, you will know from the quotation what you are missing. marine setups are a bit different from freshwater setups. the supporting wood structure have to support the heavier saltwater and rocks and it has to be resistant to corrosive saltwater too. imagine the weight your tank is supporting and the mess it will create if it gives way one day. i wouldn't scrimp on the tank.

Roy, I think ur worry is that the a marine tank maker might not be able to do up a cabinet that fits ur ID style while an ID might not be able to provide a tank with equipments that is suitable for marine.

Might wanna consider separating the jobs. Approach a marine tank maker and get them to come up with a tank set. Then give the specs of the cabinet needed for this tank set to ur ID.

A lot more work but I do believe it's worth it. :) a good tank is the backbone of a marine set up.

Bro, if you confirmed on the tank size and that if fits into your reno, why not only have the tank make, and with heavy duty stand.

After that, have the reno id to work around it for the exterior including top cabinet? In this case, if the carpentry work not done well, can have the contractor come over and touch up together with the rest, no need to fix seperate appointment.

I think its easier to work around like this. Renovating already so many items to coordinate, just treat this as 1 item more and get the items separately. Just like reno ID like to lump everything together and mark up than overall mark up again. So even give you alot of discount, but in the end still the earning, if no discount than even more YAM GONG.

For lighting, i just talked to Dr Evil the week before and he might have some refurbished razor laying around for a super good price, see he can give warranty anot.

You can go see his tank, also similar only exterior (front facing, and wooden frame) is done up, behind all naked.

Just my 2cents.

For tank setup. I would recommend get quote from iwarna. Find victor. Their price is reasonable and they are specialist in doing marine setup. Or for tank and cabinet only find ah heng he is specialise in doing marine tank. For marine cabinet wood cannot be any lousy wood. It must be use to restand the load and salt water damage to the wood. Marine tank load is much more heavily then fresh water.
