Added black quartz sand, and I realised there was smt leeching out from the sand. I immediately siphoned out as much sand as I could with the help of my friends. And added a lot of activated carbon. For now everything seems to be fine except 2 YT and one Sailfin and one blue tang that died:(

Correct bro, in case water cleared too fast, watch out ur Lps or zoas if any.

sps Pe Can tell also.

esp rowa carbon, Which is very strong.

get Salt mix ready. changing some water to play safe i feel.

Yes the carbon may strip the water clean too fast which might stress the corals

Aroganite sands and coral chips affects the PH. They should be soaked in water before used if the amount is significant.

The PH can become too alkaline (9 or even more).

I read this somewhere and took effort to proof it that it is true by using my PH meter.

That is also why some rockscape work from concrete cement needs to soak for up to few months until the PH dropped to near 8.
