Welly
By shallow meaninh 1ft tall or 1.5ft tall ? Most people will use how tall for a shallow tank ?
tofubox
Mainly for better light penetration and for ease of maintenance. You don't lose a lot of PAR with a shallow tank. Don't think theres an exact figure for the word "shallow". All depends on your tank dimensions still. Shallow tanks can be used for any purpose. But if u intend on keeping any fish with tendency to jump, best to get a cover done. Quote I Love Stagsss

SRC Member woyeng** Posted August 24, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted August 24, 2014 Convenience and ease of maintenance but the trade off is not so majestic as those 2ft and 2.5ft ones IMHO Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
yq33
Haha I think beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I feel shallow ones looks great Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Clement_jr
shallow tank most likely will not use deep sand bed. and usually shallow tank goes without hood. fishes like wrasse cannot be kept. tall tank like 2.5ft above? maintainance can be a pain. Planted
I once saw my neighbor transporting a shallow tank and when I asked, he say that's he's keeping octopus. Not sure but I do appreciate shallow tank. They reminds me of snorkeling experience while deep tank more like diving. ^^
