tench1
Any bros have success with large angel for SPS dominated tank? In particular, Regal Angel. Im planning to add it into my fishlist. Will be the only angel in my tank. Thanks for sharing.
SRC Supporter Harlequinmania Posted August 18, 2014 SRC Supporter Share Posted August 18, 2014 i kept one large queen angel in my SPS tank, generally from my own experience angelfish is SPS safe except for zoas which it eat all of my zoas !! tench1
Boss, luckily for me, now only have a small colony of Zoas, and GSP. Should introduce a small specimen to cultivate the eating habit first or an average size?
SRC Supporter Harlequinmania Posted August 18, 2014 SRC Supporter Share Posted August 18, 2014 Generally, smaller size of angel fish tend to be more " Well behaved " . My queen doesnt touch my GSP and clove corals, but again this will depend on luck. If you feed your fish well, they will also have no excuse to touch your other corals lol. black tank
I kept a 3 inches regal for more than 2 years in a dominated sps tank with goniopora.
SRC Member solasido Posted September 21, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted September 21, 2014 Nip a bit is okay as long as don't damage. The beauty of the fish worth more than the little damage. I am in the middle of experimenting with butterfly fish in my tank now. So far so good. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
tench1
Hi guys, need some advise... Added my regal into DT but its not able to roam freely and feeding were greatly affected by the smaller dominating Yellowtang. Should i remove the yt for the time being or just leave it? tench1
Personal view Angel fish in a reef tank practically does nothing contributing other than its beauty. Do you agree?

tench1
Their wastes are also for for corals? Angel Keeper When you have 3 x algae eating blennies, and a YT, the poos are more than enough to feed the corals... But i do agree that Angel can provide another 'type' of poos for corals....hahaha

SRC Member asg Posted October 21, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted October 21, 2014 As long as it is meaty LPS better dont keep with angel. SRC Member christan1959 Posted October 30, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted October 30, 2014 When I was snorkeling in Maldives, I did not see any fish nipping on SPS. Triggers, butterflies, Moorish, large angels and even parrots - none even pecked once on the vast growth of SPS. Of course surgeons didn't either. They seem to eat sponges, algae and mollusks around though.
SRC Member woyeng** Posted November 20, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted November 20, 2014 I m very tempted to put a multicolor angel into my mixed reef which oredi has an establishes flame angel.... 2 issues...angels fight and corals kena whacked... Flame very good so far but read that multicolor destroys... Anybody with an interesting take on this one ?
SRC Member Angel Keeper Posted November 20, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted November 20, 2014 Training is everything... As long as they are trained that pellets will drop from the skies often enough, the chances of them pecking on corals will be highly minimised. As for angels fighting, as long as the new angel is already well fed, it can last for a few days without food even if bullied... Best way is to shift the rocks so territories are not maintained by the older angels... Another option is to put the new addition in a trap tank for a few days and always feed the rest of the fishes very close to the trap tank... This will improve socialising and once you see them not fighting with each other, it's time to let them join each other in your DT!
