Calcium reactor - unbalance consumption of carbonate and calcium

Bros,

Need your advise.

I installed calcium reactor in the end to meet the coral growth demand of carbonate and calcium.

I also keep clams (about 5 specimens).

For the reactor media, I use Rowalith C+ mixed with Grotech Mg.

The problem I am facing is, everytime I have balanced KH to around 7 - 8, Ca to around 430mg/l

And run reactors for few days with CO2 rate and effluent flow rate to maintain KH around 7 - 8, the Ca level always climb up to around 470-480mg/l

So obviously there is something not right as the consumption is supposed to be balanced.

Mg level is quite stable around 1320.

Any bro can advise how to identify the problem and fix?

bro, it s normal to me, my case is ca lower. so after a whileave to Topup a bit.

But i do believe it s coral consumption issue. May be we Can find out some clues from ur previous dosing amonnt/volumn to see if coral consumption.similar.

I actually thought that Ca should be lower because I got 5 clams (4 about 3-4" and another is about 5-6"). It is strange that it is the opposite.

Maybe ur coraline algae suck too much kh.

How s ur Mg level ?

Mg so far so good, bro maintaining around 1300 - 1350 range so far.

Yesterday, I chanced upon an article on advancedaquarist on such issue. Apparently the only way is to manual top up to balance it.

do u think the ca n kh was balanced when they come out frm CR or it is a bad cycle like un-balanced water goes to CR making un-balance Even worse ?

I rebalanced again and it is so far so good now.

Seems that the Ca leak came from my Ca dosing tube (i suspect). The tube is quite long and seem to have deposit inside.

I am using RedSea coral pro now, bro.

Should be around 480 for SG 1.025

I only change 1 pail per week, so should not affect much.
