Salifert PO4 test kit

Hi everyone!

Just wondering how do you guys read the results of test...

Im certainly not colour-blind and im pretty sure my phosphates are a little high.

To me the solution seems colourless , which indicates that the phosphate level is at 0ppm , but seeing the algae growth on my rocks and the glass , im not convinced ..

I also have the same problem. Salifert is colourless but still got algae, its because the algae uses e po4 directly so u get a false reading.

Maybe you want to try using the Hanna PO4 checker? Easier it get readings.

Salifert And others po4 test kit is useless. Best is use a hanna po4 low range checker

There are phosphates in the rocks. Test kits can't test this. U need to have a way to remove them by running media. It takes time and patience.

Also check for nitrate and ur lighting period.

Read something about phosphate and phosphorus in water. The latter cannot be detected by our PO4 test kit and can cause algae growth.

Also read that sometime algae also trap detritus and nutrients and feed on them without any trace in water.
