there is a comparison between vortech n tunze wavebox.

Vortech's flow coverage is wider than the wavebox.

Both can generate waves. But I feel waves generated by wavebox is nicer meaning the swaying is like 1sec to left then 1 sec right. Vortech is half sec left and half second right. So corals under tunze give the feel of rest n relax. Under vortech gives kancheong feel.

Tank size:36"x36"x24"

Return pump" 2x Reef Octo 5000

Skimmer:BK Double Cone 200 on Reef Octopus DC 5500s.

Wavemaker:2xVortech MP40wES

Chemical filtration:1xeducator FR(biopellets)

Chiller:1hp Daikin compressor.

Lighting:2 x Kessil A360we

Auto topup system: JBJ ATO + new jet 1200

Dosing system: Kamoer 3 channel.

Additives: ESV 2 part.

Power consumption

2XReef Octo 5000: 120watts

BK skimmer:50watts

2xVortech wavemaker:70watts

Daikin compressor:775watts

Lighting:180watts

Ato system:21watts

Exhaust fans:16watts

Refugium light:27watts

Bro, so if use Wavebox then no need wave maker ?

depends on how big is your tank. Pple chooses vortech is the flow is very strong and when running 2 of them can run in nutrient export mode meaning the water is very chaotic and will bring up the dirt that are rested on your lr.

But u still need to use a turkey baster to blow at certain areas on the rocks that are inaccessible by the waves. Your rock scape also play an important role in water flow. Both types of wavemakers requires u to have unblock wave path, meaning no obstruction facing the pump as possible.

I dun own a wavebox only vortechs. After reading the comparisons online, wavebox flow is weaker compare to a mp40 but the wave generated by wavebox is nicer.

Aesthetically vortech has a smaller footprint. Motor is not inside water, but not sure heat dissipation for wavebox is high anot.

Thanks for info. I suppose it's personal preference and if tank not big then no point really
