What livestock to start with

newbie here, just finished cycling my tank for about 1month and 4days. just wanted some advise or what type of fishes should i get first? hope for a coral tank/mixed reef tank

You can try a convict tang. Its cheap and can help you address new tank syndrome algae problem. If possible just grow some macroalgaes in your sump n feed it when you harvest.

Yep ... as snoopyhamburger said .... chromis are excellent beginner fish, not firefish IME though. Keep chromis in groups of 5 n above in odd nos for best results. And how big is your tank ? IMHO ... Tangs are best added last even in a large enough tank ...

Managed to get 2 chromis, 1 yellow tang. So far been feeding. Just to check anything that i need to take note of?

Keep them 2 to 4 weeks and observe closely for any ich and slow down LS adding. Let ur system stable down with current load.

yellow tang should be the last fish to add since they are aggressive. but well since you added alr nothing can be done. just to note that in future any fishes that resembles shape of the yellow tang you cannot add. have to either take out yellow tank for a few weeks and put back in then can.

After 4 years .... I wish to put in a school of chromis again but I read & read ... some said even after putting in a school of them, eventually I will still end up with 1 only ...

Bro, just try it..it all boil down to luck..my 3 chromis r ok for quite sometimes (S M L)

Agree. I have 2 normal green,1 blue reef, 1 vandelbit and 1 barrier reef chromis. All living happily together with 1 YT, 1 Picasso, 1 yellow wrasse, 1 neon dotty back, 1 orchid dotty, 2 blue damsels and gobies. Already for many months.

I started my trio when I first started,but then one went carpet surfing.

I got another Chromis and now they are known as Bing,Bam,and Boom.

He jumped out of the tank,and dried up on the floor.Its like commiting suicide.

Bing,Bam,and Boom have been with me for 2 years.

Except for Bam,the new one that replaced the suicidal Chromis.

They are all different sizes,so I can differentiate them easily.
