andrewttw
Hi all, I'm battling this patch of red slime algae on my live rock and substrate. I have finished a whole box of ultra life red slime remover. The algae has completely gone off my sand bed but there are very stubborn spots on my live rock. Just got my ro/di unit and did one 30% water change. Planning on doing more water changes. But as it is, the algae wasn't completely wiped out. Should I remove the live rock totally? I bought a different brand of remover, chemiclean, just in case. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
SRC Member james72 Posted June 25, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted June 25, 2014 Just blow on all the live rocks just before you do your water change. The red slime will be easily blown off, siphon it away. p.tm
I battled red slime/cyano before.. found that a combination of phosphates and low flow is the cause. Did you test your po4 level?
SRC Member clownfish_forever Posted August 22, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted August 22, 2014 Bro, I was in the exact situation more than 1 year ago. Don't give up. But if you want to resolve your red slime issue, you still need to find the root causes. I did a combination of WC, remove deep sea bed from display tank, install a better skimmer and start growing cheato. And I have no red slime problem ever since. So jia you! beelim
Nualgi works partially for me. But some blindspots (Underneath wavemaker) still very stubborn. Not cheap but good investment!!
