The Aqua Illumination Hydra TwentySix is roughly half the size of the Hydra FiftyTwo and features half as many LEDs.  Interestingly, the power consumption of the TwentySix does not scale linearly with the FiftyTwo; Despite having only half as many LEDs (using the same LED puck), the TwentySix consumes 90 watts at max output versus the FiftyTwo's 135 watts. This would suggest the TwentySix's LEDs are driven more aggressively than its bigger brother and will yield higher light output per LED.  We could also conclude that the new AI LED pucks can output more light, but the single cooling fan on the FiftyTwo is the limiting design factor.

Nano reefkeepers should be particularly excited.  The TwentySix is a bit larger than AI's discontinued Nano model, but it packs almost three times as much light output.

The TwentySix will share all the features of the FiftyTwo, including seven channels of built-in wireless control and EXT rail mounting system.  The TwentySix is available in black and white finish.

Meet the New AI Family

Lauching May 29, 2014, the new AI Hydra TwentySix will round out Aqua Illumination's core product line.  All three Hydra products (the original Hydra, Hydra FiftyTwo, and Hydra TwentySix) will work together using AI's Director or new Controller.  AI will cease manufacturing of the Vega and Sol but will continue supporting these products (except the first generation two-fan Sol).
