I was just thinking of getting somemore test kits and it came acrossed my mind. As we know, different brands are good or alright in certain tests but not very well in others. Why don't we come up with a list of recommended brands for different types of tests.

Maybe I can start the list:

Ammonia

Good/Alright

- Seachem Ammonia Alert

Bad:

- ?

Nitrite

Good/Alright:

- Tetra

Bad:

- ?

Nitrate

Good/Alright:

- ?

Bad:

- Tetra (always showing super high results)

Calcium

Good/Alright:

- JBL

Bad:

- ?

kH

Good/Alright:

- JBL

Bad:

-?

pH

Good/Alright:

- ?

Bad:

-?

Why do we use "My 2 cents worth" when 1 cents are not legal tender in Singapore anymore? Shouldn't it be 5 cents worth?

forgot to add that it will also warn anyone if they want to buy other test kits that are not useful. Or even tell others what they have been using.. like the tetra test for Nitrate.. many have been deceived by the high nitrate levels shown and keep changing water... <_<

where to get salifert test kits??

Looking for stuffs recently.. can't seem to find one shop that sells everything...

Rowaphos is hard to get.. and now the test kits.. haiz

Dont worry ,

I would strongly suggest that you try out XGLARE TEST KITS.

As they have proven to be as good as salifert BUT pricing wise would be much more cheaper.

Should be able to purchase them from

Marine Life

Reborn

Petmart

Ocean Planet

I found it easy to use, end point is sharp, though I can't comment how good it is because I've never done any side by side comparison.

As I don't have the kit with me now, so I can't really remember exactly.

But just simply drip the liquid till the solution changes colour permanently after agitation. It is normal to observe localised colour change when not agitated enough.
