Will Vodka dosing kill new fish?

Hi guys,

Recently bought few fished like venustus, multibar, golden, regal angel separately, not in one go.

they all died in a few days in beta box in my tank, while my existing queen and fire fishes are all fine.

no ich, no other sign.

some of them just start eating and active, there are pipe for them to hide, so less stress. But they just gone on the 2nd day.

New fish are all introduced in before 1 hr dip with para guard. no over dose.

Tank stable for SPS, but doing vodka dosing at 2.5 ml for 600L water.

Any advice or guess of the reason why fish died?

Vodka dosing will kill the fish? esp those new introduced fish?

thanks

Hi bro,

Last time I also dose vodka; did not kill any of my old fish or new fish.

Of course you dose in high wave area; not directly at the fish.

Also; I just acclimatize the fish with the tank water.

No medicine.

Your 1 hour dip with para guard is it done in a tank/tub with wave maker on?

Also, those fish you mention; are by no means easy fish to keep.

Cheers!

(-_-) Happy will do ... (o_o)

thanks bro, my 1 hour dip with para guard with a air pump in a black tub.

yes, i know i challenged myself to try those fishes, but they are really nice and love them.

I can accept those difficult fishes die in slim or no feeding, but cant understand why they die Fat....LOL

these are difficult only fish, and need plenty of luck to get a healthy specimen

a mature tank with natural food source - algae, pods, tiny shrimps etc etc - will greatly increase their chance of survival

my experience with these fish

multibar, once, died after a month, maybe tank not matured enough

regal, once, after 3 months still depend on natural food source, end up sell to a reefer with larger tank

golden, twice, both feeding but died after 4-6 months, 1st died when i went taiwan holiday, 2nd due to "hole in head"

good luck bro

Maybe when u try next time can just release them into the main tank. These fishes sensitive to stress. Just need to make sure none as big as ur qyeen.

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes

Too many people spend money they haven't earned to buy things they don't want to impress people they don't like.

imo if your sump big enough, place them there

1 feet cube is good enough for dwarf angels

put a few pvc to make them comfortable

let them condition to your water

and buff them up with prepared food

currently not "reefing" any more, keeping fowlr now :D

Could it be salinity shock? Did you do slow water mix for acclimatisation to your tank parameters? Cos normally lfs will keep their tank water salinity low to control ich and parasites. If the fishes you bought are quarantined fishes and you have done all the necessary steps to acclimatise it. I guess can only doubt the method how the fish were caught.

Yup all slowly drip Ard 30mins to 1 hr. The last think I can doubt would be the method being caught.

Oxygen level drop might be link to carbon dosing causing too much bacteria bloom and depletion of oxygen. That's why we normally route biopellets reactor outlet hose to the skimmer. Cheers, James http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/topic/105744-the-journey-to-the-valley-of-the-reef-by-james/'>
