we have all seen in the market, many brands of vitamins and minerals to be added directly to the water for fish health.

we know that fish get most of their vitamins and minerals from the food they eat, but do these additives actually get absorbed by the fish just by being in the water?

Many tanks run on activated carbon and various other substances that remove these from the water column as well.

Many of these products are "snake oil". Don't believe everything you see. I've never dosed any vitamins or minerals for my fishes before. Never had a problem. Only thing i ever did was soak my fish food in garlic before feeding.

I use to keep a FOWLR system. I didn't dose anything at all. It went auto pilot for 2 yrs before decomm.

Now i have a coral nano tank, and the only additives i add are colour enhancers from grotech. Rest is considered coral food or amino acids, I'm not counting balling method as a form as addictive.

End of the day, keep your water clean (filtration, sump maintenance, regular water changes) , good husbandry and know your fish well (i.e its diet, compatibility, and natural behaviour)

I'm not saying all additives are bad. But you need to understand what you are putting in your tank. Maybe other bros have had good success with certain additives and would like to share.
