Aircon compressor location

Hi guys,

For my new tank (4.5' L x 3' W x 2' H), I intend to install the 1hp compressor above the light set using L bracket. It will be a full height cabinet with lots of grooves for ventilation.

Is it advisable for this arrangement? Has anyone done it this way?

Thanks :-)

Sounds very unsafe.. can you guarantee your L bracket won't get rusty and give way?

It is the same L bracket used for outdoor installation. If HDB approves it for outdoor, I don't see any concern for structure integrity of the bracket when used indoor.

However I do share the concern of heat dissipation.

Maybe if u can get the cabinet maker to have a separate box up for your compressor so there is limited salt water evaporation getting to the bracket and compressor.

It will save your compressor as well in this manner.

Aquarist chamber gave a very good idea for the chiller compressor: place it where you hang your clothes to dry indoor and you can utilize the hot air as well.

Previously I had my Marine Tank in my bedroom and it was placed under the Aircon fancoil, and after awhile the metal parts in the fancoil all turned rusty.

Perhaps you can consider what Thomas suggested, but definitely not directly above the tank.

At least you don't have to worry one day the compressor may collapse and smash your tank... but before that could happen

your compressor mostly likely will be damaged due to rust.

Safety 1st bro.. hope to see your awesome tank soon .. cheers :)

In principle, all heavy stuffs should stay at grade level.

Placing above the tank will make your room hot when compressor kick in and serving difficult. Is best to installed at where you can dry your cloth to make use of the hot air so that you can save electric bill on your dryer. My cloth dried on daily basis without the use of Dryer and make my wife happy.
