AZ NO3 without skimmer

Has anyone tried using AZ NO3 without a skimmer?

Want to find out if it still works (even though it's not as fast, as long as it reduces NO3) without a skimmer.

Are there workarounds for using it without a skimmer?

What are the expected waste products that I should remove if used without a skimmer and are they harmful to livestock?

I believe those with an effective algae turf scrubber (ATS) manage to do away with a skimmer because the algal mat helps to export out most of the undesirable waste products.

Did my own protein skimmer instead. Major success. Had to adjust it abit. Skimming out some super dark green gunk initially but now it's dark brown. Don't know if it's big enough to get rid of the nitrates sufficiently. Nitrates super high at the moment that's why resorting to az no3. Hopefully it can do the job. Super proud of this simple DIY job! Hahahha!
