Earthquake tremor

Felt dizzy, saw my ceiling fan moving, look at my aquarium and saw the water swishing slightly up and down the sides of the glass! Even my macroalgae was swishing about in the tank. Talk about natural wavemaker!

I was busy rearranging the macroalgae in my tank. Then when i took my hand out, was wondering how come the water was swishing about so much when I was moving my hand only gently. It was then that I found out was an earthquake tremor.

Aquariums are good earthquake indicators!

could't believe while i was just beside my tank,I was worrying my 6 ft tall tank might collapse if earthquake tremor carry on for few more seconds, it is an awful feeling..

I felt the tremors at 2.45, lasted for a minute.

I was above my tank looking down and I thought I was dizzy.

Came down and saw my tank water was sloshing. The water line was moving up and down a good 6cm!!!

I called my wife out and together we stood in shock looking at how much water was moving in our tank!

The last time this happened a few years ago, her mum's neighbour on the 24th floor had their aquarium shatter! (I think it was a FW tank)

yes..... around 2.45pm.. we and some customer in our shop saw our tanks water swishing (about 2-3" up-down)

I live more than 20 storeys up..thank goodness my tank was not the size of those belonging to the AT, morgan, Joe_P, etc....if not...i think I would still be busy mopping the floor now.

Actually, there is insurance that covers earthquake tremors in case your tank shatters...

wow..sad to hear that....any more reports on strange animal behavior before the earthquake? I dun keep dogs or cats...but i heard they are especially sensitive to tremors.

FYI, most reefers spent 90% of their time on their tank staring and dipping their hands in if they are at home

nah.... believe that they are more likely covering the tank with some hood or trying to empty the safe to push the tank in...
